POC Zine Project in Saint Louis!
_+_The Yeyo Arts Collective and Samizdat Zine Library invite you to join us for a night with the POC Zine Project at Gya Community Arts Gallery_+_+ -/-/-The POC Zine Project's mission is to make all zines by people of color easy to find, distribute and share. We are an experiment in activism and community through materiality -\-\- http://poczineproject.tumblr.com/ The goals of the #raceriottour are to: 1) To further our mission of making zines (and all independent publications) by people of color easy to find, distribute and share. We do this - among other strategies - through our #poczines partner program, traveling the country and holding accessible events in academic spaces and in communities. No one is turned away for lack of funds. 2) To discover and acquire more zines by people of color for the POCZP print and digital archive. 3) To function as a bridge between communities, for the purpose of helping communities thrive and access a wide range of resources. We catalyze coalition building. Our friends and supporters are in and out of the academy and we like it that way. Part of our advocacy praxis is sharing teaching moments, inspiration and more from the road through daily recaps so people around the world have options for participating through digital interactions. 4) In 2013, the #raceriottour will function as the kickoff for POCZP’s new focus on Native/Indigenous solidarity at every event we produce and participate in. Stay tuned for more details in September of 2013. 5) To continue experimenting. POCZP is an experiment in activism and community through materiality. We are all here to learn from each other. |||Tentative event schedule||| 6:30: Doors open with local groups tabling 7:45: Event begins! 8:30: Multimedia Zine reading from local (tba) POC zinester 8:45-10: POCZP tour members speak/read/perform/do their thang!
