Join us as we honor Shirley LeFlore at GYA!

Join us as we celebrate and support the oral tradition of the Black Arts Movement in St. Louis during the late 1960s and early 1970s.  Specifically, we will honor the participation of legendary poet, activist, performance artist, and Black Artists’ Group member Shirley LeFlore, whose storytelling has been at the center of recent collaborations among educators, visual artists, and youth.  Through lesson plans, art, and documentation, we are building a deeper understanding of this movement and African American history in our city.

WHEN: Friday, January 25th at 6:00pm – 8:00pm

WHERE: GYA Community Art Gallery, 2700 Locust Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63103

We hope to see you there!

The Yeyo Arts Collective is sponsoring this program in partnership with the Missouri Humanities Council and with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
