What have we been up to?

We are working, working, working on the Lights Along Cherokee Project. Each collective member completed one panel each and so did the young ladies of Girls Create. To see our finished pieces (it took two panels) check us out on March 19th by taking a stroll down Cherokee during the SGA Conference. It will be an amazing evening!

Also save the date for our upcoming event at Urban Eats Cafe (April 23rd) & Dine Out with us in May @ CPK... more details for both events are coming soon...

Also SGC International on Cherokee is on March 18th 5-10pm. Don't want you to miss the lantern walk!

Thoughts on Aesthetic Vision by Marlene Schuman

The trick to living fully is to not just wait for others, those with aesthetic visions, to capture what surrounds us daily in epiphanic flashes of art, photography, and story, but to see it ourselves--to be on the alert for it. Therein lies the real trick--to sustain a consciousness (one neither dulled by cynicism nor given to high drama) which is given to pattern, texture, shading, geometry, and perspective: to human pain, the tilt of a head, the slope of a shoulder or plain of a cheek; and to the rhythms of dialect, rumblings of technology, and the whispers of nature. Life is indeed montage, visual and audial, and each of us has an internal camera and tape by which we can record and be invigorated by our experiences.

*This short writing was gifted to us by a wonderful activist and friend of the collective. She felt inspired to share this piece after visiting us, recieving our correspondance and visiting our blog.

We are thankful for her sharing. We hope that you enjoyed her work.
